Meet the ‘hand mask.’ For somewhere between three and seven bucks you can buy a single-use hand mask from CVS or Whole Foods. It’s a pair of disposable gloves with goop in them. You stick them on your hands and sit for anywhere from five to eight minutes before removing them to (it is hoped) find your hands feeling soft and looking young.
It works, but it also might make you feel bored (sitting for eight minutes. Are you kidding?) or like a patsy (this cost how much?)
A better way
Next time you’re doing household chores or yard work, grab your gloves of choice. Put a ridiculous amount of your favorite hand lotion on and then put on the gloves. When you’re finished with the chores, rub the lotion in, wipe it off, or whatever. Dishwashing gloves can be turned inside out and rinsed, and work gloves can be tossed in your regular laundry. Soft hands, no sitting around, no seven-dollar line items on your grocery receipt.
