Calling Your Congressperson Made Easy

It's a truism that in the United States, our elected reps pay more attention to phone calls than to other messages from their constituents. This may be because phone calls require a little more effort than emails or social media posts. Fortunately, there are tools to make it a bit easier to call your rep.

Even if you’re sure that your representative will agree with you, placing a call to their office will give them evidence of your support, encourage them to work harder, or help them understand an issue more clearly if you have specialized knowledge about it.

And guess what? 5calls.org is an online tool that makes it easier to call your reps in the U.S. Senate or Congress. Not only does the site help you locate your representative’s phone number, it even provides background information and talking points (from a progressive point of view) about current issues.

If you’re more right-leaning, you can still use the contact information at 5Calls. And no matter rwhere you stand on the issues, you can text your reps using Resistbot, a platform-agnostic text / email / fax (Fax?) tool that you access by texting RESIST to 50409.
