Switch Between Tabs or Apps

Got several (or several hundred) tabs open on your browser? You can save yourself the wear-and-tear on your mouse by using hotkeys to switch between browser tabs (and do other cool things).

Cartoon: a magic wand that says CTRL, like a hotkey

On a PC, Alt + Tab will bring you to the next tab to the right, and Shift + Alt + Tab will bring you to the next tab to the left. On a Macintosh, Control + Tab will bring you to the next tab to the right, and Shift + Control + Tab will bring you to the next tab to the left.

Also on a Macintosh, Command + 1, Command + 2, etc. will bring you to the first, second, and so on tabs.

You can also switch between applications on the Macintosh using Command + Tab. I find this super handy when, say, I’m watching a video on how to code something and I want to switch into the app I code with and try out what’s just been demonstrated.
