OSHA for the rest of us

My favorite on-the-job injury happened because why take off your high heels when you have to carry a box of antique beer coozies from the basement 'marketing storage area'? Suddenly, finding an ice pack became pretty important.

Marketing can be dangerous

Spoiler alert We didn’t have an ice pack. Since then, at each successive job I’ve made sure we have a decent wall-mounted first-aid kit.

The point? Safety is for everyone, not just people in stereotypically risky jobs. If you’re an office worker who needs to climb a ladder for some reason, did you know that you should always have three points of contact with the ladder?

So whoever you are, iAuditor’s guide to OSHA standards is worth digging into. They walk you through what what is required of employers and employees in many different types of industries – and they even have a blog about creating a safety culture at work.
